EVObooster and classic ionisers compared
Hydrogen-enriched water can be produced in two ways: with a countertop unit that splits the water by electrolysis, or with a module in the under-sink cupboard that dissolves the hydrogen through a membrane. This comparison sets out factually where the two differ.
What hydrogen water is about
In the enrichment process, molecular hydrogen (H2) is dissolved in the water without changing its taste. Whether and how this has any effect in the body is a subject of research; there is no authorised health claim for it in the EU, and we make none here. What differs is the technical implementation, and that determines the installation, the pH value and the amount of care required.

pH value: neutral or alkaline
The classic ioniser separates the water by electrolysis into an alkaline and an acidic stream, and the drinking water often ends up at pH 8.5 to 9.5. The EVObooster dissolves the hydrogen through the membrane, and the pH value remains unchanged.
Space in the kitchen
The countertop unit needs space beside the sink and visible hoses for the inlet and the waste water. The EVObooster sits in the cupboard below, the water is drawn through the existing tap, and the worktop stays clear.
Working together with the filter
Ionisers often come with an activated carbon stage; with hard water a pre-filter is needed as well, otherwise the electrodes scale up. The EVObooster is connected downstream of an existing filter system: clean first, then enrich. Without a filter in front of it, it does not run.
The hidden germs in the kitchen
Anyone who buys a water treatment system wants clean water. Yet it is in the sink of all places that the classic design has a weak point hardly anyone thinks of: the open drain hose.
Countertop ionisers split the tap water into two streams. The alkaline water comes out of the swivel arm at the top, while the acidic water drains off downwards through a plastic hose. This hose usually hangs or lies loose in the sink.
After every draw, some water is left standing at the open end of the hose. Standing water, food residues and room warmth together make a good breeding ground for bacteria, and from there germs can gradually travel back into the unit. Specialists call this retrograde contamination. That is why such hoses need to be cleaned regularly.
A module in the cupboard below avoids this by design: it sits in the closed pipework, the water is under mains pressure, no acidic waste water is produced and there is no open outlet in the sink. That removes the very place where the problem arises.

Details of the design are taken from the manufacturers' documentation. A closed system also needs its maintenance, just not the cleaning of a hose in the sink.
Which system suits whom?
A classic ioniser suits everyone who specifically wants to drink alkaline water and is willing to accept a unit on the worktop.
The EVObooster suits everyone who wants the technology inside the cupboard, wants to leave the pH value unchanged and connects it to an existing filter system.
